Arsenal players have an added incentive heading into the Europa League final as they have huge bonuses waiting for them if they secure victory against bitter rivals Chelsea in the Europa League final on Wednesday.
The Gunners will share a £10million bonus between themselves if they lift the trophy in Baku on May 29, with each player earning between £100,000 and £500,000.
Chelsea have already qualified for the Champions League next season and this game is a good opportunity for the Blues to end the season with a trophy. But for Arsenal, it’s their only hope of making it to the Champions League next season.
Arsenal are taking this competition seriously, and in preparing for the Europa League final, the Gunners have organised a behind-closed-doors friendly match with Austrian side LASK Linz.
According to The Daily Mail, Arsenal have arranged for LASK Linz’s squad and coaching staff to be flown in this week ahead of a friendly at the club’s London Colney training base.
Unai Emery said of Arsenal’s preparation for the Europa League final: “We prepare like when it’s an international break.
“We will have two days off and for the first week we will not be thinking about the final.
“We will train three days in London and then next weekend we will have it off and then we will start on Tuesday in London with three days training preparing with all of our focus on the final.
“We will go to Baku three or four days before the final, Saturday I think, and prepare for the match over the last three training sessions.”
