Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley, who scored twice in the 3-0 friendly win against New England Revolution on Wednesday, insists Chelsea are desperate to end season on a high with Europa League glory against Arsenal.
The proceeds from the game against New England Revolution was given to charity and Barkley described it as a good cause.
“Everyone in that dressing room is hungry to win it,” said Barkley.
“It’s a good cause and always good to take part in things like this. Now we get a few days’ rest and then we’re back at it with all our focus on the Europa League final.
“We’re all excited. We’re trying to bring that trophy home. Everyone in the dressing room is hungry to win it. Some of them have won it before. Trophies are special to every player. We’ve won trophies and we want to win more. This means everything to us.”
Chelsea beat Arsenal at Stamford Bridge this season and lost the reverse fixture at the Emirates stadium. Barkley believes the Europa League final against Arsenal will be a tough game.
“It will be a tough game,” Barkley added. “It’s always competitive. It’s a derby. So we’ll be up for it and I’m sure they will.
“We’ve had our ups and downs this season but we’ve come through it strong and we’ve learned a lot. It bodes well for next season. We’ll be better for it.
“Our next target is to win the Europa League. Then we’ll set our targets for next season but this is a massive club. We want trophies. We want to win the Premier League. Every competition we’re in, we’re in to win.”
