Ola Aina has been on loan from Chelsea at Torino in Serie A this season and was expected to join the Serie A side permanently at the end of the season after an option to sign him for £8.7million was included in the loan deal.

According to Standard Sport, Chelsea are now having second thoughts about selling Aina this summer with the club currently banned from making new signings.

The 22-year-old full-back has impressed on loan at Torino in the Sere A this season, making 29 appearances in all competitions as a right and left back, helping them climb to sixth in the table.

Torino have been impressed with the performances of Aina and have reportedly decided they want to sign him permanently at the end of the season. Fiorentina are also interested in signing the 22-year-old.

With the possibility Chelsea won’t be able to make new signings this summer due to the transfer ban, the Blues have been monitoring loan players and deciding who is good enough to get a chance.

According to Standard Sport, Chelsea have been impressed with Aina’s form and have decided the Nigerian international is good enough to be part of the team next season.

Another young Chelsea full-back Reece James is also being considered for a place in the first team next season after impressing on loan at Championship side Wigan.

With Davide Zappacosta expected to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season plus doubts over Emerson Palmieri’s and Marcos Alonso’s future, there could be room for both Aina and James at Chelsea next season.

Chelsea’s loan technical coach Eddie Newton recently hinted Aina could be part of the team next season.

He said: ”We’ve always known Ola has got exceptional talents – physical, technical, uses both feet, quick, powerful boy – but the question mark over his head was his concentration throughout 90 minutes. He has proved he can do that and been consistent this season.

“I’m really proud of him because he’s mentally tuned in now and I think we have to really start taking him seriously.”
