Chelsea are already making pre-season plans ahead of next season, and the Blues will travel to Austria this summer to face RB Salzburg as part of the club’s pre-season campaign.

Chelsea will play the Austrian champions, who complete their Bundesliga season this weekend, at their 30,000-capacity home on Wednesday 31 July.

Salzburg are also a Champions League side and this game will provide good competition for Chelsea ahead of the 2019/20 Premier League season, which commences on Friday 10 August.

Chelsea also have pre-season plans in Japan and also against Barcelona. The game against Salzburg follows Chelsea’s trip to Japan, where we play against J.League champions Kawasaki Frontale in Yokohama on 19 July before facing Barcelona in Saitama on 23 July.

Fixtures for the new season will be announced on Thursday 13 June at 9am. But one can only wonder whether current boss Maurizio Sarri will be in charge of the club next season, with rumours already linking him to Italian champions, Juventus.

Sarri has warned that he’ll leave the club immediately if his future isn’t secure after what he has achieved in his first season at the club.

“If the situation is like this I want to go immediately,” said Sarri at a UEFA press conference. “You cannot do 10 months of work and then I have to play for everything in 90 minutes.

“It’s not right. It’s not the right way. You’re either happy about my work or you’re not happy.”

“I can only work,” added Sarri. “I can only try and improve my team. I can only try to play better, to win more matches. I don’t know what to do more.

“I have a two-year contract here and I have no contact with other clubs at the moment.

“I have to speak at my club first of all after the final. I want to know if they are happy with me or not. That is it.

“I am very happy to stay in the Premier League and I think Chelsea is one of the most important clubs in the Premier League. So I’m really very happy but we have to discuss the situation.

“In every season you have to discuss the situation with the club. You do it like this. In my opinion, we had a very good season. Of course we have to do more. We need to improve more.

“As for my football, in the last two years City have won everything in England and their way is not like mine but it is similar. So we can play my football in England.”
