Chelsea will be away to German side Eintracht Frankfurt tonight at the Commerzbank Arena for the first leg of the Europa League semifinal clash.
The German side has been impressive in this competition so far having beaten the likes of Marseille, Lazio, Shakhtar Donestsk, Inter Milan and Benfica to get to this stage, and it will be their first semifinal since they won the competition in 1980.
Frankfurt boss Adi Hutter believes his side will go into their Europa League semi-finals as underdogs against an ‘unbelievably strong’ Chelsea despite the German club’s run to the last four.
However, Hutter has revealed that he has a plan for Chelsea and hopes his side can execute the plan against the Premier League club.
“There’s no doubt they’re the favourites. Chelsea are definitely the best team we’ve faced so far. They’ve got an unbelievably strong side with lots of experienced players. We’ll need to have a great game in order to compete with them,” said the Eintracht boss as reported by the club’s official website.
“If you’re in a semi-final then you want to make the most of the opportunity. I’m convinced that we can put ourselves in a good position for the return leg, but only if we do almost everything right.
“It’s important that we also enjoy the match. We’re in the semi-finals of the Europa League against a big club. It’s something special. We’ll need to be courageous, flexible and execute our plan.”
Hutter has also revealed that one of such of his plan is to stop Chelsea star Eden Hazard by doubling up on him.
“He is one of the best players in the world, who other big clubs want to have,” said Hutter.
“In duels he is great, very dynamic. You have to double up on him and you have to try to take him out of the game.
“With his qualities he is one of the top three in the world.”
