Eden Hazard has been important in Chelsea’s sealing of Champions League football for next season with the Belgian matching his best league tally of 16 goals and providing 15 assists in the league, his best as a Chelsea player.
Despite his amazing stats this season, Hazard doesn’t believe this season is his best in Chelsea colours because Chelsea didn’t win the Premier League title.
“For me, the best season is when I’m first in the table,” Hazard told Chelsea’s official programme ahead of the Blues’ 3-0 win over Watford last Sunday.
“I don’t care about statistics, you’ve known me for seven years. I’m not focused on that, I’m like this.
“To be fair, it’s not my best season anyway, because it was a bit like the team’s.
“We started well, and I started well, then we had some ups and downs and it was the same for me as well.
“I think we missed a bit of consistency this season. That’s the only point. When the manager is talking, he is talking about this: consistency.
“If we had two, three, four games with this high level of consistency, we could now be second, or something.
“But we need to work step-by-step for the future.
“Our target is now to finish in the top four and win the Europa League because at the end, we want to win a trophy.”
