Mateo Kovacic has urged Chelsea fans to respect any decision Eden Hazard’s makes on his future.
The 28-year-old’s contract with Chelsea is set to expire next summer and his failure to sign an extended deal has left many fans fearing this season could be his last for Chelsea with the Belgian heavily linked with a summer move to Real Madrid.
Hazard has had an impressive season for Chelsea, scoring 16 Premier League goals and providing 15 assists in the league.
Kovacic has spent the season on loan at Chelsea from Real Madrid and he admitted that Hazard would be an important player for any club.
“Eden is a great guy, an amazing player, for every club he would be important,” Kovacic told Sky Sports.
“For Chelsea he is the most important player but in the end it’s his decision so everybody should respect his decision.
“It’s on him now. He’s had amazing years at Chelsea.
“This year was also great, let’s see what he will do.”
Meanwhile, Hazard has won the Chelsea Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year and Goal of the Season awards for 2019, making Blues history in the process.
The Belgian is the first player to win all three awards in the same year.
