Chelsea players trained at Baku’s Olympic Stadium on Tuesday evening as the team prepared for Wednesday’s Europa League final against Arsenal.
Surprisingly, there was a clash between teammates Gonzalo Higuain and David Luiz during the training session and Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri appeared to be angered by the incident as he stormed off the training session, throwing off his hat before kicking it away in disgust.
A video had emerged of Luiz appearing to elbow Higuain during the training session before Sarri stormed off the pitch, as Higuain was displeased with Luiz’s action.
The pair seems to have put the incident behind them and were seen celebrating together after Chelsea’s Europa League title triumph.
Luiz was live streaming on Instagram – and then made a ‘too much talking’ gesture with his hands, while Higuain said: “Nothing happened, I love David!”
The Argentine than planted a big kiss on his teammate, who responded in Portuguese: “I love you brother.”
Explaining the incident further in an interview with RMC Sport after the game, Luiz said: “No, nothing happened. It’s normal when we work, we fight.
“After that, Maurizio got angry and left because he wanted to work on free-kicks but couldn’t because there were cameras in the stands, then everything got mixed up. We hugged him, directly with Gonzalo. He’s a friend, nothing happened.”
