Chelsea are the 2019 Europa League winners after beating Arsenal 4-1 on Wednesday in Baku.

Olivier Giroud scored Chelsea’s first goal before Pedro made it 2-0 for the Blues. Eden Hazard scored Chelsea’s third from the penalty spot after Giroud was brought down in the box.

Substitute Alex Iwobi reduced the deficit with a goal for the Gunners before Hazard scored his second goal of the night to restore Chelsea’s three-goal advantage.

The Europa League triumph is Maurizio Sarri’s first major trophy as manager.

Sarri set an Europa League record by being the oldest manager to win the Europa League at the age of 60 years 139 days.

The previous record was held by former Chelsea and Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, who guided Manchester United to Europa League success in 2017 at the age of 54 years, 118 days.

Meanwhile, Sarri’s former boss at Napoli, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has congratulated Sarri for leading Chelsea to Europa League success.

“Aurelio De Laurentiis and all the SSC Napoli congratulate Maurizio Sarri on the victory in the Europa League with an overwhelming performance. Bravo Maurizio,” the tweet read in Italian.
