Maurizio Sarri has received plenty criticism this season from fans and pundits but all these criticisms really deserved?

Sarri completed his objectives, not only winning the Europa League, Chelsea’s fifth European fifth trophy but also securing a third-place finish in the Premier League.

In terms of wins, only one manager managed more wins than Sarri in his debut season.

According a stats provided by Daily Mail, only Jose Mourinho managed more wins than Maurizio Sarri in his first season at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho managed 42 wins in his debut season at Stamford Bridge, the 2004/05 season.

Sarri won 39 of his 63 games in charge, drawing 13 and losing 11. Carlo Ancelotti achieved as many as Sarri in his while Antonio Conte pulled off 37.

Luiz Felipe Scolari, Andre Villas-Boas and Claudio Ranieri managed 21 wins in their debut season at Stamford Bridge.

Despite winning the Europa League in his first season in charge, Sarri’s future as Chelsea boss remains uncertain.

Various reports claim the Italian is set to be appointed as Juventus manager following the departure of Max Allegri.

Speaking after the tremendous 4-1 win over Arsenal in the Europa League final, Sarri was unable to provide clarity on his position.

“This is the time to celebrate,” Sarri told Sky Sport Italia. “From tomorrow, as with all clubs, we’ll sit down and see what the club wants me to improve and what I want the club to improve on.

“There are still two years remaining on my contract, so as with every club, we have to sit down and evaluate everything.”
