Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has urged Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson to join Chelsea ahead of Tottenham this summer.
Wilson has been linked with a move away from Bournemouth after scoring 14 goals and providing nine assists in the Premier League this season.
Tottenham and Chelsea are both interested in the striker but Merson says it would be a much better career move if Wilson joined Chelsea as he would get more game time at Stamford Bridge.
“This lad will have to have a serious think in the summer,” Merson said.
“This lad, he’s an England centre-forward now, he’s in the England squad, he’s playing every week in the Premier League.
“If he goes to Tottenham, he’s not playing. Full stop.
“He’ll play every now and then when Harry Kane’s not fit, and that means then he’s never playing for England again.
“Now England are going places, we’ve got a chance of winning the European Championships next year, you want to be involved.
“In a year’s time, if people are playing in their team and scoring goals, he’s going to be behind.
“I’d be seriously looking at Chelsea before Tottenham, for him, because he will play at Chelsea.
“He would be the centre-forward (at Chelsea).
“He’s not going to play for Tottenham. He’d fizzle his career out just sitting around (if he joined Tottenham).
“He’s worked hard to get here to play in the Premier League, now surely you want to play in the Premier League.
“If he had a choice I think he’d look at Tottenham and go ‘I’m not going to play in front of Harry Kane’, he probably wouldn’t even play in front of Son (Heung-min) if I’m being honest.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea assistant manager Gianfranco Zola has assured Chelsea fans that Gonzalo Higuain will come good at Chelsea.
The striker joined Chelsea on loan from Juventus in January but has struggled to cope with the intensity of the Premier League.
He has shown he is clinical in front of goal but fans have questioned his workrate and desire.
Zola believes Chelsea fans will see the best of Higuain when he reaches his top fitness.
Zola said in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Higuain and Jorginho? Their qualities can’t be put into question but the rhythm of the Premier League is very high. Gonzalo will surprise you once he will reach the top of his fitness. He will prove to be decisive.”
