It’s no secret that Real Madrid have been trying to sign Chelsea star Eden Hazard for some years now, but Chelsea have held on to the Belgian for so long.

Hazard joined Chelsea as a 21-year-old from Lille back in 2012, and his stock has risen since then, with many considering him as one of the top five players in the world.

Hazard has a good individual season at Chelsea, his best ever campaign for Chelsea, scoring 16 goals and assisting 15 in the Premier League, as he helped Chelsea finish third in the Premier League.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has now confirmed that the Spanish club has been trying to sign Hazard for many years, and he seems confident that the Belgian will move to the Bernabeu this year.

With a year left on Hazard’s contract, reports claim Hazard will move to Real Madrid this summer for around a £100m.

Asked about Real’s interest in Hazard, Perez told Spanish radio station Onda Cero: “We have been trying to make Hazard a Real Madrid player for several years.

“We are working on a project to make people dream again, where we recover our hunger and ambition. I have already lived through this stage before.

“I have a dream that Hazard will arrive this year. Let’s make a good team this year.

“I am very interested in him coming to Real Madrid and I am very hopeful that he will come this year. He’s one of the great footballers.

“Last year we wanted him, but this year he only has one year left on his contract and it is easier.”

Hazard has so far refused to link himself with an exit yet although he revealed that his mind has been made up, and he will only reveal it After the Europa League final.

For many, Hazard’s move to Real Madrid is all but a done deal. However, you can never say never in football.
