For months now, there have been talks of whether Maurizio Sarri will stay at Chelsea or leave after his first season at the club.
Midway through the season, Sarri looked like he was going to be sacked after horrendous losses to Bournemouth and Manchester City, as the Blues suffered 4-0 and 6-0 defeats back to back. Chelsea fans got disillusioned with Sarri’s management and chanted “Sarri out” and “f*** Sarri-ball” during the win over Cardiff in March. The fans never warmed up to the Italian, and according to The Sun, it’s the major reason he wants to leave the club.
Maurizio Sarri is set to become Juventus boss after the Italian champions reached an agreement with Chelsea on Thursday night.
Despite leading the Blues to a third place finish in the Premier League and Europa League success last season, Sarri wants to return to his homeland.
Sarri seemed to have gotten things right at the end, as the Blues finally ended the season in 3rd place and won the Europa League.
Chelsea and Juventus have agreed a £7million compensation package that will see Sarri leave Chelsea for Juventus.
A number of names have been linked with the Chelsea job, but Blues legend Frank Lampard is the favourite to take over from Sarri, and according to reports, Chelsea are set to appoint the legend to take over the Blues job next season.
With Sarri set to leave, Chelsea must look beyond the Italian and get set for the new season.
