It’s no longer news that Eden Hazard wants to leave the club. The Belgian has been a loyal servant for seven years, but he has made it clear that his heart is at Real Madrid.

Last week Wednesday night’s Europa League final is expected to be Hazard’s last game for Chelsea as reports claim Chelsea and Real Madrid are in talks for a transfer move for Hazard.

Before the Europa League final, Hazard had revealed that he wanted to gift Chelsea fans with the gift of the Europa League trophy, and when pushed on his future after the final whistle, Hazard made it clear that he wanted to leave as he told BT Sport: “I think it is a goodbye. My dream was to play in the Premier League and I did that for 7 years with the best team in the world.”

“I talk about my decision already. I said that two weeks ago. Now it depends on the club, both clubs,” Hazard added.

“I’m just waiting like you wait, the fans wait, we will know in a couple of days. I think it’s a goodbye, but in football you never know.”

Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon believes Hazard’s move to Real Madrid is only a matter of money.

“It seems Hazard is coming and that is really good news for Real Madrid,” Calderon told Sky Sports News.

“I think now it is a matter of money. The player has said clearly that he wants to leave and he wants a new challenge.

“It is not fair to keep a player who has been there for seven years and who has one year left on his contract.”

Chelsea fans do not want to lose Hazard but the club can’t force him to stay against his wish. But one thing is for sure, Chelsea could benefit from the departure of Eden Hazard if he leaves this summer, especially taking a look at how Liverpool blossomed after their star man Philippe Coutinho forced a move away from the club to join Barcelona.

See some reasons why Hazard leaving may be good after all:

1. Over dependency

Chelsea are a club that have achieved success over the years without really depending on a single player. Chelsea’s successes have always been built on team work, passion, commitment and resilience. Players always gave their all and were more than dedicated to the team.

But Chelsea have depended so much on one man the past few years. Chelsea’s dependence on Hazard has been way too much, and it just kept increasing season after season.

This past season only shows just how much Chelsea have depended on Hazard. If it hadn’t been for the Belgian, we definitely wouldn’t have made top four, and his brilliance was also crucial in the Europa League final against Arsenal.

Hazard scored 16 goals in the Premier League and provided 15 assists, meaning he was involved in 31 goals, more than any other player in the league. In many games this season, Chelsea just depended on Hazard to bail the team out.

While we’d love to see Hazard remain at the club, it might be better for Chelsea if we no longer need to depend on one man.
