Chelsea youngster Ethan Ampadu has revealed he always knew Callum Hudson-Odoi was a talented player.
Hudson-Odoi scored his first Chelsea goal in the 4-0 Europa League victory over PAOK last season and Ampadu admits he was happy to be on the pitch with him when he scored.
Speaking about Hudson-Odoi’s first Chelsea goal, Ampadu told Chelsea’s official website: “It was a big moment for him. I always knew he was a good player and it’s been good to see a young team-mate and a friend do well.
“I was happy to be on the pitch with him when he scored.”
Ampadu made several appearances in the Europa League for Chelsea last season and the youngster described his Europa League experience.
Ampadu added: “European games have definitely got a little bit of a different atmosphere about them. For me it was a good experience and I enjoyed it. They can be hostile.
“When I played away against Vidi it was quite hostile, and the fans abroad make a whistling noise which can make it hard to hear your team-mates.”
