Maurizio Sarri is set to take over the vacant job at Juventus after the Italian champions agreed a compensation fee with Chelsea for the Italian manager on Thursday night.
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard, former Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri, Watford boss Javi Gracia and Ajax boss Eric ten Hag are being considered as potential replacements for Sarri by the Chelsea board.
According to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, Lampard will be a very good option for Chelsea’s next manager.
Some Chelsea fans doubt Lampard is ready for the job as he has just one year of experience as a manager but Drogba believes Lampard’s lack of experience will not count against him.
Lampard, 40, enjoyed a fine debut season in management, taking Derby to the Championship Play-off Final before a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa at Wembley.
“I think it is a very good option for the club,” Drogba said, according to Standard Sport. “He has done well with Derby, taking the team to the play-off final.”
“So he is never going to be ready, then? Does he have to wait until he is 50 to be ready?” the Ivorian replied when asked about his inexperience.
“I think it depends on your experience and depends on your desire to succeed and do it.
“If he feels ready I don’t think it is too early.”
Do you agree with Drogba that Lampard is a very good option for the Chelsea job?
