Chelsea star Willian has been forced to cut a holiday in Israel to replace Neymar in Brazil’s Copa America squad after missing out on Tite’s original 23-man call-up.
Neymar won’t be a part of Brazil’s squad for the Copa America after the PSG forward picked up an ankle injury in Brazil’s friendly victory over Qatar on Wednesday.
Willian was picked to replace Neymar ahead of Tottenham’s Lucas Moura and Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior.
Willian will join the squad on Saturday before a friendly against Honduras in Porto Alegre. The Copa America starts next Friday.
“The attacker Willian, of Chelsea, has been called up by the Brazil national team and will play the 2019 Brazil Copa America,” the Brazilian Football Confederation confirmed in a statement released on Friday.
“He has been called to replace Neymar, who was dropped from the squad following the friendly against Qatar.”
Willian made his debut for Brazil in November 2011 and has gone on to make 65 appearances in the Selecao, scoring eight goals.
