Christian Pulisic, signed from Dortmund in January, is prepared to cut his summer break short in order to make an instant impact at Chelsea and on incoming boss Frank Lampard.

Pulisic was signed from Borussia Dortmund in January for £57.6m but spent the remainder of last season on loan at the German club.

Pulisic is currently on international duty with USA at the Gold Cup and Chelsea have a policy of allowing players involved in summer international fixtures to have extended time holiday but he is willing to waive that right and get stuck into training almost immediately after the Gold Cup.

Lampard, who is expected to be confirmed as Chelsea boss soon, will surely be impressed by Pulisic’s level of commitment.

Chelsea depart for a pre-season tour in Japan just over a week after the Gold Cup and Pulisic wants to be part of the tour to avoid playing catch up with the rest of his team-mates.

Pulisic will be the only new face at Chelsea this summer due to the transfer ban imposed on the club.
