Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has confirmed Chelsea are in talks with Frank Lampard over becoming the club’s next manager.
Lampard is the Blues’ first choice to replace Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge after he left the club for Juventus.
Derby are reportedly desperate to keep Lampard and according to The Mirror, the Rams have offered Lampard £10million as they look to tie him down to a new deal.
Drogba also hinted Lampard will be announced as Chelsea boss soon.
Asked who will be the best manager for the Blues in an Instagram live video, Drogba said: “The one who is in talks now to get the job – Frank Lampard.”
Drogba was asked for when his former teammate would be announced, but he responded: “Relax! Relax!”
Meanwhile, former Chelsea and Manchester United goalkeeper Mark Bosnich has revealed Lampard may end up regretting turning down the manager’s job at Chelsea if that is what he decides to do.
“I think it’s a great move for both parties,” Bosnich told talkSPORT.
“From a Chelsea perspective, the fact they’re banned for two transfer windows and have lost their best player in Eden Hazard, it may not be a smooth ride for them.
“But having a club legend will give them some breathing space.
“And for Frank, it’s a fantastic move.
“It’s a dream job, very few people in the world will be offered this job.
“If he stays with Derby and just say, for example, he loses seven of the first ten games and things aren’t going particularly well, he’ll forever be saying to himself, ‘I should have taken that opportunity’.
“I think it’s a really good move and I really do hope it works out for him.
“I was very close to Frank during my time at Chelsea.
“He not only was a wonderful player, he is a wonderful man as well and I think this will be ideal for him.”
