Everton are stepping up their efforts to sign Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma on a permanent deal, according to the BBC.
The 24 year old centre-back spent last season on loan at Everton and they are now reportedly determined to sign him on a permanent basis.
Chelsea are expected to demand in excess of £30million if the club decides to sell the defender but incoming Chelsea boss Frank Lampard will make the final decision on Zouma’s Chelsea future.
BBC also claim Zouma would also be happy to return to Everton next season if he fails to receive assurances about first-team football at Stamford Bridge.
Everton captain Phil Jagielka will leave the Merseyside club this summer and Everton boss Marco Silva has made Zouma first choice to fill the gap.
Silva see the pursuit of Zouma as a key part of his plans after concluding a deal with Barcelona for Gomes, who also had a loan spell on Merseyside last season.
