While Chelsea fans might be disappointed that Eden Hazard has left the club for Real Madrid, some others are actually happy that the Belgian won’t be able to terrorise them again in the league.
Hazard spent seven years as a Chelsea player, and in that time frame, the Belgian was a terror to opposition defences, and many opponents have revealed that Hazard is one player they hate to come up against.
Brighton and Hove Albion keeper Mat Ryan has joked about his pleasure at seeing Eden Hazard seal a move away from the Premier League.
In Ryan’s two games against Hazard last season, he conceded five goals, with the former Chelsea number 10 scoring two of those, and Ryan is delighted that he won’t be facing Hazard next season.
“I think from the four times I’ve faced him I haven’t saved a shot from him yet,” Ryan told the Fox Football Podcast.
“It’s either been blocked, he’s hit the shot off target or he’s scored a goal.
“It’s a bit of an annoying fact so thank god he’s p*ssed off somewhere else. I put in a nice word to (Real Madrid) for him.
“I would love to have the opportunity to face him again and stop him – that’s my motivation.”
There are arguments whether Hazard deserves to be called a legend at the club after his seven-year spell at the club, but Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has endorsed Hazard as a Chelsea legend.
“No one can replace Hazard, he is special,” Drogba said during an Instagram Live on his account on Saturday via Standard Sport. “But someone else will come, [and] step up.
“Eden Hazard is a legend at Chelsea. That’s life, that’s football.”
