Since Roman Abramovich bought Chelsea in 2003, there have been 13 different managers with Jose Mourinho and Guus Hiddink having second spells at the club.

Here are the best 6 managers in the Roman Abramovich era:

6. Rafa Benitez

Rafa Benitez was appointed on interim basis after the club sacked Roberto Di Matteo following a 3-0 away at Juventus in the Champions League. Chelsea fans never accepted Benitez because of comments the Spaniard made about the club during his time in charge of Liverpool but he still deserves credit for winning the Europa League with the Blues. He also guided Chelsea to a third place finish in the Premier League.

5. Maurizio Sarri

Maurizio Sarri left Chelsea for Juventus this summer after just one year at the club. The Italian changed Chelsea’s playing style to a possession based style of play but fans never warmed up to him. The Italian will definitely be proud of his time at Chelsea after guiding Chelsea to a third-place finish in the Premier League and a Europa League title.

4. Antonio Conte

The Italian guided Chelsea to a Premier League title in his first season in charge, setting what was then the record for most wins recorded in a single Premier League season (30). Conte brought the back-three into vogue in England in his first season at the club with managers such as Mauricio Pochettino opting to use the same style.

Conte fell out with the board and several players at the club in his second season at Chelsea. He guided Chelsea to a fifth place finish in the Premier League but left the club on the high after beating Manchester United in the FA Cup final.
