Chelsea youngster Mason Mount has just returned to the club following a successful loan spell in the Championship with Derby County.

The 20-year-old scored 11 goals and assisted six in 44 games across all competitions for Derby County, who were beaten in the play-off finals at Wembley.

Despite his small frame, Mason Mount has shown that he can play at the highest level as he was a key player for Derby County all season.

At just age 20, the young midfielder is already being likened with Chelsea legend Frank Lampard, and it’s not hard to see why.

Mount spent the previous season on loan with Vitesse, and he scored 14 goals and assisted 9 out of 32 games in the Holland Eredivisie. And this season, he has again shown that he’s not a one season wonder.

Mount posted pictures of himself on social media alongside childhood friend and West Ham ace Declan Rice, and this has prompted West Ham fans to call for the signing of the 20-year-old.

Mason Mount has proven he deserves a place in the Chelsea team next season, and will be a valuable addition following the transfer ban. With Lampard rumoured to be high on Chelsea’s radar if Maurizio Sarri leaves for Juventus, it may be a good opportunity for Mount who impressed under Lampard’s tutelage at Derby County.

Mount’s ability on the ball isn’t hard to notice and he’s also good at short and long passes. His awareness and shooting ability is also evident. He has the instincts of a goalscoring midfielder and bagged a good hat-trick against Bolton Wanderers just last month; no wonder he’s already being compared to Frank Lampard.
