Chelsea legend Frank Lampard will return to Stamford Bridge this weekend as Maurizio Sarri’s replacement.
Some fans are against the return of the legend as they believe he doesn’t have the experience needed to manage a top side like Chelsea but should we just focus on his lack of experience?
Lampard might have just one year experience in management but the truth remains there’s no better man to manage Chelsea at this time.
Chelsea have one of the best academy in Europe but have failed to promote our youngsters into the first team and with the transfer ban imposed on the club, this is the best time to promote our youngsters.
With the ban on transfers, no experienced manager will be interested in the Chelsea job. The likes of Max Allegri will want funds to get new players and the Chelsea job won’t appeal to them due to the transfer ban.
Lampard’s performance at Derby shows he’s the right man for the job. At Derby, Lampard impressively overhauled the side he inherited while cutting costs and he turned the Rams from an ageing team into an attacking, young swashbuckling side playing 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3.
Derby owner Mel Morris has admitted he wants Lampard’s replacement to continue working to Lampard’s blueprint.
The transfer market is currently overpriced and Chelsea need a manager who is happy to combine getting the best players in the market and working with youngsters.
Lampard’s knowledge of the club and ability to inspire Chelsea’s youngsters will now be invaluable again given the club’s transfer ban – and you can bet the Blues’ kids like Tammy Abraham will get a chance if they train consistently well.
Lampard’s expected arrival is already having a positive impact on our youngsters with Chelsea youngster Juan Familio-Castillo changing his mind about leaving the club.
Lampard came up against Jose Mourinho when Derby County played Manchester United in the Carabao Cup back in September 2018.
Lampard’s Derby County beat Mourinho’s Manchester United and Mourinho was impressed with the coaching style of Lampard.
Speaking after the defeat to Lampard’s Derby, Mourinho hailed Derby’s young players, speed, intensity, pressing and mentality.
“We are playing against good teams with good young players, with speed, with intensity, they give great intensity to the game,” Mourinho told the official Manchester United website.
“They wanted to press, they pressed for every goal and we need to respect, we need to match that mentality”
As Chelsea fans, we need to support our own and I urge every Chelsea fan to back Lampard because he needs our support and patience to succeed.
