5 players that formed a part of our first team squad for all or some of their Chelsea careers have left the club following the expiration of their contracts yesterday.

1. Gary Cahill

Gary Cahill, club captain for the past two seasons, have left Chelsea after the expiration of his contract yesterday. Cahill joined Chelsea from Bolton seven-and-a-half years ago and he played 291 times for the Blues, scoring 25 goals. During his time at Chelsea, Cahill won eight major trophies, including the 2012 Champions League. Arsenal, West Ham, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing Cahill on a free transfer.

2. Gonzalo Higuain

The 31 year old striker joined Chelsea on loan from Juventus in January after Alvaro Morata left the club for Atletico Madrid on a temporary deal. Higuain made his Chelsea debut in the FA Cup win Sheffield Wednesday, and opened his account with two superbly-taken goals the following weekend against struggling Huddersfield. He scored a total of five goals during his time at Chelsea and leaves the club with an Europa League winners medal. Roma are reportedly interested in signing the striker for next season but he has insisted he will go back to his parent club Juventus.

3. Eduardo

Eduardo joined Chelsea from Dinamo Zagreb in August 2016 to provide cover and competition for Thibaut Courtois and Asmir Begovic. He failed to make an appearance for Chelsea and spent last season on loan at Vitesse Arnhem.

4. Rob Green

Rob Green join Chelsea last summer to provide cover to Kepa Arrizabalaga and Willy Caballero during the 2018/19 campaign. He announced his retirement at the end of the season after winning the Europa League with Chelsea.

5. Kyle Scott

The talented midfielder leaves the club after joining Chelsea as an Under-10 from Southampton. Scott made his youth team debut as an Under-16 at the start of the 2013/14 season. He figured in both our FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League triumphs the following season, and our successful defences of both competitions in 2015/16. Scott made his only first team appearance as a substitute for the last half-hour of a 4-0 FA Cup win over Hull in February 2018. Newcastle United are reportedly interested in the 21 year old midfielder.
