Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is expected to be announced as Chelsea manager in a few hours time, as reports confirm that the legend will be unveiled this week just before the start of pre-season.

The announcement of Lampard as the new Chelsea manager is almost here, as the Chelsea legend was spotted at the club earlier today.

The players are expected to report to Cobham on Wednesday for pre-season testing, as the preparations for the upcoming season get underway.

The Blues will play seven games during pre-season ahead of the new campaign as well as the Super Cup against Liverpool in August.

Chelsea will travel to Dublin in Ireland for a training camp which includes games against Bohemians (July 10) and St Patrick’s Athletic (July 13).

After the training camp in Dublin, the Blues will head off to Japan on pre-season tour, where we will face J-League champions Kawasaki Frontale (July 19) before taking on Barcelona (July 23).

After the game against Barcelona, Chelsea will return to UK for a game against Reading (July 28), then travel to Austria to face Salzburg (July 31) before wrapping up that trip with a game against Borussia Monchengladbach (August 3).

Lampard is expected to be named as Chelsea manager before Chelsea start pre-season proper, but a number of Chelsea players won’t be available to start with the new manager.

Chelsea players report back for pre-season on Friday as they prepare for the 2019/20 campaign under another new head coach, as for the third season in a row the Blues will have a new manager leading the team for pre-season.

Willian won’t be available at the start of pre-season, as he’s currently with Brazil for the ongoing Copa America. Willian won’t be back soon as Brazil have reached the final and will take on either Peru or Chile on Sunday in Rio De Janeiro. He will be granted a vacation after the tournament.

January signing Christian Pulisic won’t be available for pre-season early on, as the American has helped his side to the semi-final of the Concacaf Gold Cup, where they take on Jamaica in the early hours of tomorrow (Thursday) morning.

If USA win the game, they’ll reach the final and will be against Mexico in the early hours of Monday morning, meaning Pulisic will not be back just yet as he’d go on vacation after the tournament to recuperate for the new season.

The likes of Antonio Rudiger, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James won’t be available for the start of pre-season because of injuries.
