Chelsea youngster Ethan Ampadu is currently in Germany to complete a loan move to RB Leipzig.
The 18 year old, who can play as a centre-back and midfielder, stayed behind from Chelsea’s pre-season tour in Japan to sort out the move.
The midfielder was spotted in Leipzig according to photo evidence from RB Leipzig fans’ Twitter handle @rb_fans.
The decision was made for the youngster to go out on loan to earn valuable playing time after failing to get enough game time under Maurizio Sarri last season.
Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann is looking to bolster his squad after qualifying for Europe’s top competition and Ampadu will give him options at centre-back and defensive-midfield.
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has explained why the club decided to send Ampadu out on loan.
“I tried to sign Ethan on loan at Derby last year, so I’m a big fan, but with the minutes he played last year, I have to think of the bigger picture and the interests of Ethan and of Chelsea,” Lampard explained.
“The idea that he could play a lot of games somewhere is good for him and we haven’t brought him here while that is up in the air.”
