Chelsea midfielder Mario Pasalic has signed a new contract at Chelsea until 2022 and has been loaned back to Atalanta again despite a €15million buy-option that was included in his loan deal to Atalanta last season.
The 24-year-old moved to Stamford Bridge in 2014 from Hajduk Split and spent last season on loan at Atalanta. He made 42 appearances for Atalanta last season and scored 8 goals, helping them secure their best Serie A finish of third.
Pasalic had previously talked about leaving Chelsea on a permanent deal after being on loan with five different teams in the last five years but he will join the loan army for at least one more season.
After joining Chelsea from Hadjuk Split in 2014, Pasalic joined Elche on a season long loan before being loaned out at Monaco, AC Milan and Spartak Moscow respectively for the following seasons.
Pasalic has represented Croatia 10 times at senior level, most recently in his country’s 2-1 European Championship qualifying win over Wales and a friendly defeat to Tunisia.
