Bayern Munich are refusing to give up on Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi and are set to return this week with a bid for the 18-year-old.
According to Daily Mail, Bayern Munich are expected to make a £45million bid for Callum Hudson-Odoi this week, £10m increase on the offer they made on transfer deadline day in January.
Despite Frank Lampard’s insistence that he wants the 18-year-old to be central to his plans at Chelsea, Bayern Munich are refusing to give up on Hudson-Odoi with Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic reaffirming last week that his club are still interested in Hudson-Odoi.
Hudson-Odoi is currently in Cobham recovering from an Achilles injury and is expected to miss Chelsea’s tour of Japan this week.
Chelsea boss Lampard revealed last week that he will sit down with Hudson-Odoi and attempt to convince him that he can be a long-term star at Chelsea.
Chelsea would resist selling the youngster given the transfer ban on the club and Eden Hazard’s departure to Real Madrid this summer but if Hudson-Odoi keeps stalling on signing a new contract, Bayern Munich could sign him for a minimal compensation payment on a pre-contract in January.
Speaking about Hudson-Odoi, Lampard said: “I am not going to say things that are pie in the sky but, with his talent, he can be central to this team, he can be central to England.
“He can show, right here at Chelsea, the team he came through the academy at, that he is going to be a world-class player – because I truly believe that.
“I will pay a lot of care and attention to Callum – because of the contractual position he is in – to try to get him to stay, and not with any lies or any false statements to him.
“That of course goes to a decision between him and the club and I am not involved in the financial negotiations, but I can certainly tell him how I see it and I see him being a huge player for us.”
