Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has made an impressive recovery since his operation and has gotten the green light to accelerate his training following a check-up with renowned Barcelona-based surgeon Ramon Cugat, who carried out his surgery, claims Daily Mail.
Hudson-Odoi’s injured Achilles is now fully healed and Cugat declared the England starlet ready to increase his workload.
Chelsea reportedly hope Callum Hudson-Odoi will be able to return to full training by the start of next month.
The 18 year old missed the final games of the last season after he ruptured his Achilles in the 2-2 draw against Burnley at Stamford Bridge in April.
Hudson-Odoi is now back running outside and so far ahead of schedule that he is only weeks away from being able to join in full sessions with the rest of his teammates.
The players started returning for preseason on Wednesday ahead of the club’s training camp in Ireland and then preseason tour of Japan but Hudson-Odoi is likely to stay behind and continue working on his fitness.
Hudson-Odoi’s rapid recovery will be a huge boost for Frank Lampard, who is expected to be announced as Chelsea boss today.
Talks between the club and Hudson-Odoi over extending his contract is ongoing and how much action he gets on his return will play a big part in persuading him whether or not to stay amid long-standing interest from Bayern Munich.
