Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has revealed that he’s expecting great things from Blues youngster Mason Mount next season.
The 20-year-old spent last season on loan to Derby working under Lampard, and he was one of Lampard’s key men at the club.
Mount has so far impressed in pre-season and speaking after Chelsea FC’s 1-0 pre-season defeat by Kawasaki Frontale in Japan, Lampard said of Mount: “Mason’s part of the first-team squad this year and it’s time for him.
“His qualities will improve even more with the qualities around him.
“Everyone knows the hopes I have for Mason and he showed today a glimmer early in pre-season of what we might see this year and going forward.”
Mount impressed yet again in another pre-season fixture and was one of Chelsea’s best players against Barcelona today.
After the clash in Japan, Mount took to social media to express his thanks to the Japanese supporters who came to see Chelsea in action during their tour.
He tweeted: “Great to round off the trip with a win against Barcelona! Thank you, Japan!”
Former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas was in awe of Mount’s performance and replied him on social media. Fabregas responded: “Keep it up lad”.
