Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo has made it clear publicly that he is keen to leave Chelsea this summer despite Frank Lampard’s appointment as manager on Thursday.
Omeruo is currently with the Nigerian national team at the AFCON and he has been one of the most outstanding players in the tournament, winning the man of the match award in Nigeria’s 1-0 win over Guinea.
“I think now’s the time for me to leave, to find a place, to be my own man,” Omeruo said, according to Goal. “I’m married with a baby now, so I need stability.
“Chelsea have done amazingly for me, and for my family as well, but it’s the time when I need to reach my potential and get where I think I deserve to be.”
Since joining Chelsea from Belgian side Standard Liege in 2012, the 25 year old is yet to make a competitive appearance for Chelsea and has instead had six loan spells in a row with La Liga side Leganes being the latest on the list.
