Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater will look to begin the resurrection of his Chelsea career in Dublin on Wednesday night.
Since joining Chelsea from Leicester in 2017 for £35million, Drinkwater has failed to establish himself at Chelsea.
Last season under Maurizio Sarri, he made just one appearance last season — and that came in the Community Shield against Manchester City.
Drinkwater was expected to leave Chelsea this summer after failing to make any competitive appearance for Chelsea last season but the appointment of Frank Lampard as Chelsea boss has given him hope that he can rescue his Chelsea career.
Lampard has promised all his players a clean slate and Drinkwater will be one of those looking to turn his fortunes around.
The Blues will play against Bohemians tonight in our first preseason game and Drinkwater is in line to feature in the friendly.
Tonight’s match is the first of seven pre-season fixtures for Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta has revealed Lampard wants the players to play with intensity.
“The manager has explained how he wants us to play and we are all enjoying the camp so far,” said the Spaniard. “We want to play with high intensity and we want to be dominant.”
