Chelsea are unable to register new players for the next two transfer windows due to the transfer ban imposed on the club but the club can sign players now with the player joining Chelsea next summer when the ban will be over.
According to The Telegraph, Chelsea have entered the race to sign Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha. The Blues are seeking to complete a deal for Zaha this summer with the Crystal Palace star joining Chelsea next summer when the transfer ban will be over.
With Everton and Arsenal making a move for Zaha, Chelsea don’t want to risk waiting till next summer before making a move for the winger.
Crystal Palace will be happy to sell Zaha to Chelsea as that would mean they would get to keep their star player for another season before he joins Chelsea next summer due to Chelsea’s transfer ban.
Crystal Palace also believe Chelsea signing Zaha would boost their chances of signing Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, who spent last season on loan at Crystal Palace but it is highly unlikely Chelsea will let Batshuayi leave the club this summer.
Crystal Palace are holding out for £80m for Zaha and it isn’t yet known if Chelsea are prepared to match their asking price for Zaha.
Everton are keen on beating Chelsea to the signing of Zaha by offering £60m to Palace for Zaha and including Turkish striker Tosun in the deal.
Zaha scored 10 goals and created as many assists in 34 Premier League games last campaign.
