Chelsea are reportedly willing to sell American international Matt Miazga for €20m, according to Italian publication Corriere dello Sport via Sporting Witness.
Serie A side Fiorentina are reportedly interested in signing the 23 year old defender because he is American.
Fiorentina are trying to grow their market in the United States after they were recently bought by Italian American billionaire Rocco Commisso and they believe the easiest way to do this would be to buy one of the American national team players.
Fiorentina believe signing Miazga will give their manager Vincenzo Montella the ‘technical defender’ he has been looking for on the pitch all the while opening a door for Fiorentina on the American market, the report claims.
Fiorentina are reportedly not willing to pay the €20m Chelsea are demanding for Miazga and believe the defender is only worth €7-8m. The Italian club are prepared to wait in hope Chelsea will lower the valuation for the defender as the transfer window goes on.
Miazga endured a difficult first half of the 2018-19 campaign at Nantes in Ligue 1 before being sent back to Stamford Bridge in January. He spent the second half of the season on loan at Reading, starting all 18 Championship games for the Royals.
The 23 year was linked with a move to Turkish club Goztepe last month but nothing has materialized.
