Eden Hazard’s departure from Chelsea this summer left fans wondering who would be Chelsea’s new No.10.
Hazard previously wore the No.17 shirt when he joined from Lille in 2012 before switching to the No.10 shirt in 2014 following the exit of Juan Mata to Manchester United.
With the shirt now vacant following Hazard’s exit to Real Madrid this summer, fans have wondered if Christian Pulisic, a January signing from Borussia Dortmund will wear the shirt or Callum Hudson-Odoi, who Bayern Munich tempted with the No.10 shirt.
As it turns out, neither Pulisic nor Hudson-Odoi will wear the No.10 shirt this season. So who then will wear the shirt?
Chelsea’s Brazilian playmaker Willian has confirmed he will wear the No.10 shirt this season following Hazard’s exit to Real Madrid.
According to Willian, Chelsea offered him the No.10 shirt following Hazard’s exit to Real Madrid and he has accepted to make the switch from No.22 to No.10.
In an interview with Desimpedidos YouTube channel, Willian confirmed it by saying in Portuguese: “Now the no.10 is mine! The club told me it is mine”.
Willian was Brazil’s No.10 at this summer’s Copa América. He also wore the No.10 at both Shakhtar Donetsk and Anzhi Makhachkala before coming to Chelsea.
Pulisic could inherit Willian’s old shirt No.22, the number he wore at Borussia Dortmund.
