Chelsea will finish our pre-season tour of Japan with a game against Barcelona on Tuesday.
New Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has played three games in charge of the Blues, and his side has drawn one, won one and lost one. Chelsea drew 1-1 against Bohemians, beat St Patrick’s 4-0 and lost 1-0 to Kawasaki Frontale.
Chelsea return to pre-season action on Tuesday with a game against Barcelona in the Rakuten Cup in Saitama.
The game will mark Chelsea’s last in Japan this summer as the Blues will return to the UK with a friendly against Reading on Sunday at the Madejski Stadium.
Barca boss Ernesto Valverde has revealed their squad for Tuesday’s game and will be without Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Philippe Coutinho, Arthur and Arturo Vidal due to their involvement in the 2019 Copa America.
However, all their summer arrivals Neto, Frenkie de Jong and Antoine Griezmann will be available to play against Chelsea.
Below is the Barcelona squad to face Chelsea:
Goalkeepers: Ter Stegen, Neto, Iñaki Pena.
Defenders: Semedo, Pique, Todibo, Lenglet, Alba, Roberto, Umtiti, Araujo, Guillem.
Midfielders: Rakitic, Busquets, Rafinha, Alena, De Jong, O. Busquets, Monchu, Collado, Puig.
Forwards: Dembele, Malcom, Griezmann, Perez, Abe.
For Blues boss Frank Lampard, he will try to shuffle his team once again as he looks to give his players quality minutes on the pitch to assess them and get his best eleven ahead of next season.
Lampard swapped his entire starting XI in the friendlies against Bohemians and St Patrick’s Athletic on the trip to Ireland.
Kepa Arrizabalaga was back in training on Sunday morning in Saitama having recovered from illness and he could replace Willy Caballero for his first Chelsea game this pre-season.
David Luiz played the full 90 minutes on Friday and Lampard could test with centre-back pairing Kurt Zouma and Andreas Christensen to get his best defensive pairing.
Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic also performed well together on Friday in N’Golo Kante’s absence and Lampard may choose to start them again ahead of Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater as he searches for his best midfield pivot ahead of next season.
Tammy Abraham is also a contender to play after his return from tonsillitis but he might mostly start from the bench.
