Kurt Zouma spent last season on loan with Everton, and the 24-year-old impressed massively for the Toffees.

The Frenchman is currently with Frank Lampard on pre-season, and now some rumours tend to suggest that he’s keen on a return to Goodison Park where he made a good impression last season.

Everton want the Frenchman back on Merseyside having already made Andre Gomes’s loan move permanent from Barcelona in a £22m deal, and rumours are claiming that the Chelsea defender has handed a transfer request to leave Stamford Bridge and join Marco Silva at Chelsea.

However, it’s been confirmed that such news are false.

Zouma has impressed Lampard in pre-season, and the Chelsea boss is determined to keep him.

“In terms of Kurt Zouma, he’s a very good defender for us, very good player, very good person and professional,” Lampard said.

“I want him here, simple as that. We are competitive with the centre-backs we have in the team and he had a very good season at Everton.

“I can understand why they want him. He’s a Chelsea player and I want him.”

Everton boss Marco Silva has also revealed his disappointment at losing Zouma and has admitted that he will move on to other signings.

Asked if there has to be a cut-off point in the pursuit of Zouma, Marco Silva said, according to Liverpool Echo: “You are right, you are right.

“Of course, one of the most important things for me, since we finished the season, is to keep our level.

“It is very, very good for us that we could do that with Andre and our most important players until now, because it was not just Andre and Kurt.

“The most important players in our squad are still here at our club, the 15 or 16 players who played the most are still here until this moment, other than Kurt.

“Let’s see what we can do in this situation.”
