Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has been named the new Chelsea manager on a three-year deal. He replaces former boss Maurizio Sarri, who has joined Juventus.
Lampard won four Premier League titles and the Champions League as a player with Chelsea.
Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, who won three Premier League titles and one Champions League alongside Lampard at Chelsea, is delighted to see Lampard back at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea boss.
Writing on Instagram, Drogba said: “Good luck, proud to see you coming back home Frank Lampard.”
Michael Essien, another former Chelsea teammate of Lampard, is also delighted with the appointment.
Essien wrote: “Proud to see you coming back home Frank Lampard, Good luck and all the best Chelsea .Come On Blues”
Drogba and Essien were joined by another of Lampard’s old Chelsea team-mates, Mario Melchiot, in wishing the new boss well, as the former Holland full-back tweeted: “Welcome back Frank!”
Meanwhile, Lampard has admitted he is proud to be returning to Chelsea as head coach.
“I am immensely proud to be returning to Chelsea as head coach,” Lampard said.
“Everyone knows my love for this club and the history we have shared, however, my sole focus is on the job in hand and preparing for the season ahead. I am here to work hard, bring further success to the club and I cannot wait to get started.”
