Everton were interested in signing Kurt Zouma on a permanent deal after the France international spent last season on loan at the club.
Zouma made 32 Premier League appearances for Everton last season and impressed during his time on loan at Everton.
Despite Everton’s interest in signing Zouma, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has revealed he intends to keep the France international at Stamford Bridge this season.
“In terms of Kurt Zouma, he’s a very good defender for us, very good player, very good person and professional,” Lampard said about Zouma.
“I want him here, simple as that. We are competitive with the centre-backs we have in the team and he had a very good season at Everton. I can understand why they want him. He’s a Chelsea player and I want him.”
Everton have now dropped their interest in signing Zouma due to Lampard’s desire to keep the centre-back at Stamford Bridge but they are now interested in signing another Chelsea defender.
According to Sky Sports, Everton are exploring the possibility of signing 21 year old Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori.
The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at Derby where he played under Frank Lampard and due to the number of centre-backs in the Chelsea squad, the Blues are willing to let Tomori leave the club on loan.
Tomori is a product of the Chelsea academy and have also spent time on loan at Brighton and Hull in the Championship.
