Former Chelsea boss has reportedly rejected a massive contract offer from Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande after holding talks with China’s richest man over a remarkable return into management.
According to The Guardian, Mourinho’s proposed salary at Guangzhou would have been far greater than the £15million per year he earned during his time as Manchester United boss.
Following talks with representatives of the Chinese club, Mourinho rejected the job because it is understood he did not wish to cause upheaval to his family by moving to China.
Mourinho is looking for a new job after being sacked by Manchester United back in December last year.
The Guardian also claims Mourinho is not interested in international management and would prefer a return to the club game when the right opportunity arises.
Mourinho recently admitted he wanted to return to management: “I have a lot of qualities and one of them is to respect other clubs and their management.
“I have never spoken like, ‘This club wanted me, they contacted me’.
“When I left Manchester United in December, I immediately took the decision I want to work from the summer.
“I hope to be back to work in July in a project I really like.”
