Former Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho played alongside Frank Lampard at Chelsea for six seasons before leaving Stamford Bridge for Real Madrid in 2010.
During his time at Chelsea, Carvalho scored 11 Premier League goals for Chelsea in 135 Premier League appearances.
Chelsea appointed Lampard as the new boss on Thursday and Carvalho has stressed his former teammate has always been well respected in the dressing room
Carvalho also backed Lampard to be successful as Chelsea boss.
“Frank had the respect of everyone in the dressing room,” Carvalho said, as quoted on Chelsea’s official website.
“When he speaks he is the kind of person that you listen to and you respect so it is a good beginning.
“He has just started his coaching for one year and he started well, and I think it could be very important for him.
“In this job, I hope that he can do well and I think he already learned during one year in the Championship.
“Of course, the Premier League is tough and he is in a big club but the structure is very good and I hope with everyone working together it can help him to be a success. He knows the club.”
