Olivier Giroud joined Chelsea in January 2018, and the Frenchman has already won two trophies with Chelsea.
In his first season at Chelsea, Giroud won the FA Cup under Antonio Conte and won the Europa League last season under Maurizio Sarri.
Giroud will play under his third manager at Stamford Bridge as Frank Lampard leads the team next season following Maurizio Sarri’s departure to Juventus at the end of last season.
Giroud has revealed he wants to win the Champions League and also wants the Blues to cut the gap on Manchester City and Liverpool.
Giroud said: “The Champions League is very tough. We’ve got a talented squad, but it’s quite young. Everybody knows the Champions League is a lot about experience.
“We’re going to fight in every competition — but the main target will be to compete with City and Liverpool for the Premier League title.”
Lampard is currently In Japan with the squad, and Giroud has revealed that besides his tactical input, Lampard has also brought energy to the team and boosted the mentality.
He said: “In football, for me, it’s two-thirds of the quality you need to have. I’ve seen so many talented players — but without mental strength they can’t step up and get out of their comfort zone. Mental strength is massive in football and sport in general.”
“[Lampard] is coming with big energy and we are working very hard, and in a good way. I think he’s got the squad to compete in the different competitions this year.”
