As clubs seek to improve their squad year after year, the transfer record fee keeps getting smashed. So far, Neymar’s massive £220m move from Barcelona to PSG remains the highest ever to be paid for a player.

Former Chelsea star Eden Hazard’s move to Real Madrid is among the top three in this summer’s transfer window so far.

The Belgian had been the most expensive player this summer after his £88m move to the Los Blancos last month before Atletico announced the departure of Antoine Griezmann to Barcelona (£108m) and the arrival or Portuguese sensation Joao Felix (£113m).

See the top 5 summer transfer deals so far this season:

1. Joao Felix (Benfica to Atletico Madrid) – £113million

2. Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid to Barcelona) – £108million

3. Eden Hazard (Chelsea to Real Madrid) – £88million

4. Lucas Hernandez (Atletico Madrid to Bayern Munich) – £80million

5. Frenkie de Jong (Ajax to Barcelona) – £65milllion

In essence, Hazard’s deal is the most expensive with just a year left on his contract, and an initial payment of £88m, with the deal likely to rise to £130m.

Despite leaving Chelsea for Real Madrid this summer, it appears Eden Hazard’s heart is still with the London Blues. Hazard always spoke of his genuine love for Chelsea and even said how he’d love the club forever.

Hazard has been pictured getting off a flight in full Real Madrid training gear, but with a phone case which carries Chelsea sticker.

Hazard’s departure to Real Madrid is the end of a chapter, as the Blues fans look up to the likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic who represent the future of the club.
