Frank Lampard’s first competitive game as Chelsea boss will be against Manchester United at Old Trafford on 11 August.

During his time as Derby boss, Lampard mostly used the 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 systems and it is expected he will use both formations at Chelsea.

Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Antonio Rudiger will miss the start of the season as they are all recovering from injuries.

January signing Christian Pulisic will join his Chelsea teammates this summer and he is expected to start the first game of the season against Manchester United.

We predict Lampard playing both Jorginho and Kante in front of the back four in a 4-2-3-1 system.

Here’s our predicted lineup for Lampard’s first competitive game in charge.
