Christian Pulisic, who joined Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund in January for £58 million, will be the only addition to Frank Lampard’s squad for the new season.
Chelsea academy graduate Callum Hudson-Odoi broke into the first team under Maurizio Sarri last season and impressed with some fine displays before an Achilles injury cut short his campaign.
According to Micky Gray, Hudson-Odoi is currently a better player than Pulisic.
“Hudson-Odoi, if he stays at Chelsea. Personally, at the moment, I think he’s a better player than Pulisic,” Gray told talkSPORT.
“I’ve seen him play six or seven times, and, yes, he’s got some nice ability.
“I think he’s raw, and I don’t think he’s ready to play every single week in the Premier League.”
Meanwhile, Mexico coach Gerardo Martino recently hailed Pulisic as one of the greatest emerging players in world football.
“I think that Pulisic is one of the big emerging players in world football in this latest era without a doubt,” Martino said before Mexico’s 1-0 victory over USA in the Gold Cup.
“He’s one of the most unsettling players I have seen in recent times. I think if we don’t pay special attention to him, especially when we’re in attack, we’re going to have a bad time.
“He’s a player you have to pay special attention to precisely because he can single-handedly win a game.”
