23 year old Chelsea winger Kenedy has admitted he is pleased with the chances he has been afforded to impress under Chelsea boss Frank Lampard.
Kenedy featured in both games in our tour of Japan – Kawasaki Frontale and Barcelona – and the Brazilian looked lively in both games.
“I am very happy with the amount of minutes I played in Japan,” Kenedy told Chelsea’s official website.
“It was a great experience. I am really pleased for the opportunity the manager is giving me and the amount I have been playing in pre-season.
“When I was at Chelsea before I played a lot as a left-back, but now I have been playing further forward. My past experiences as a left-back have helped me be a better player now.”
Kenedy isn’t the only young player to have gotten a chance to impress during the team’s pre-season.
Mason Mount, who spent last season on loan at Derby County, has impressed Chelsea boss Frank Lampard.
“I thought Mason’s performance was really good. It was a continuation of how he played for me last year on loan,” Lampard said.
“His energy is quality even though he hasn’t been with us long. We know Mason is part of the first team squad this year, and it’s time for him.
“His qualities will improve even more with the quality around him. Everyone knows the hopes I have for Mason, and he showed a glimmer of what we may see this year and going forward.”
