Brazilian winger Kenedy joined Chelsea in the summer of 2015 and went on to make 20 appearances in his first season at Stamford Bridge, scoring twice.
The Brazilian featured sporadically under former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, before spending the past year-and-a-half on loan at Newcastle, where he was a regular in the team under Rafa Benitez.
Benitez admits he learned a lot during his time on loan at Newcastle United and he is happy with the amount of game time he received while out on loan.
Kenedy have gotten game time during pre-season under Frank Lampard and the Brazilian is hoping to remain at Chelsea this season and have a great season at the club. According to Kenedy, that is his dream.
“I learned a lot from my time there,” Kenedy told Chelsea’s official website as he talked about his time on loan at Newcastle.
“I was very happy with the amount I played. It was a great experience for me so I must say thanks to the club and the manager.
“Now I have to start again here at Chelsea and work hard, step by step. My hope now is to do a great season here at Chelsea. That is my dream.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has been impressed with the performance of Kenedy during pre-season and he admitted Kenedy has a chance of staying at Stamford Bridge if he maintains his pre-season performances.
“With Kenedy, my feeling coming into a big squad with a transfer ban, is that I need to assess the players for as long as I can in pre-season to make sure we pick the right squad,” Lampard said after Chelsea’s friendly against Kawasaki Frontale.
“If Kenedy continues to show the attitude and play the way he did today he is making a great case to stay having been on loan in recent seasons. Nobody is in or out of the squad or has had a line drawn under or over them. Everybody is competing to stay in it.”
