Chelsea signed Croatia midfielder Mateo Kovacic from Real Madrid for £40million after the midfielder spent last season on loan at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues were able to sign the 25-year-old despite the transfer ban because the Blues had already registered the 25-year-old when he was on loan and did not require another registration.
Kovacic signed a five-year deal with the Blues and is reportedly on £75,000-a-week wages.
Mateo Kovacic has shared what it means for him to be a Chelsea player.
According to the Croatian international, being a Chelsea player means a lot to him.
“It means a lot, a lot. I saw that the club wanted me, and me – I wanted the club from the first day as well,” Kovacic said.
“So, it was a great connection. I am happy to stay here, looking forward to working hard and playing good games.”
Kovacic made 51 appearances across all competitions last season and provided two assists.
