Chelsea boss Frank Lampard used 22 players for the 4-3 friendly win over Reading on Sunday at the Madejski Stadium.

With few weeks left to the start of the new Premier League which will see Chelsea take on Manchester United in our first game of the season, Lampard admitted after the win over Reading that tough decisions will be made in terms of selection for the game against Manchester United and what the squad will look like for the new season.

Lampard said: “I wouldn’t say I’ve made decisions yet in terms of selection for those early games or what the squad looks like because that’s a line and I don’t want to draw that line just yet.

“There’s not a player who hasn’t pushed themselves and shown me everything but these are decisions I have to make.

“They’re not absolutely clear decisions but I’ll make them in due course.”

Chelsea midfielders Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater started the game against Reading but according to reports before the game against Reading, Lampard will let both midfielders leave the club.

Lampard reportedly believes Ross Barkley, N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho are better options in central midfield than Bakayoko and Drinkwater.
